my favorite party drink!!
one bottle of red wine (I like to use a red zin or a meritage, like wild bunch)
one lemon (sliced into wheels)
one lime (sliced into wheels)
one small can mandarin oranges
one small can pineapple rings
one large gala apple
one pint blackberries
about ten large strawberries
15 ounces apple juice
15 ounces cranberry juice
2 shots remy red (optional)
slice all your fruit, place into a large plastic container (I like to use a tupperware container instead of a pitcher at first so I can turn it over a few times while it's marinating). pour in your canned fruit (including juice), and liquid ingredients. Let it marinate in the fridge for at least 24 hours, turning over two or three times (because the strawberries, blackberries, and oranges will sink). serve over ice with a splash of gingerale (or lemonade) on top.
this is absolutely delicious - great for summer! a little more tropical than traditional sangria. this will make a batch for about ten good sized glasses, but it's easy to double.

Sangria Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
1 10-oz pkg frozen strawberries in juice, thawed
2 cups water
3/4 cup sugar
1 navel orange, sliced
1 large lemon, sliced
4 tea bags
2 cups red wine
2 cups lemon-lime soda
PREPARATION:
Pure茅 strawberries in blender or food mill. Combine water and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Add fruit slices; boil 1 minute. Remove saucepan from heat; add tea bags.
Cover saucepan and let stand 5 minutes. Remove tea bags; let cool. Combine the tea mixture, red wine, and strawberries in a pitcher; chill. Gently stir in the lemon-lime soda. Serve right away. Makes 2 quarts.
Basic Sangria
INGREDIENTS:
8 oz ginger ale
4 oz sugar syrup
32 oz club soda
3 oz cura莽ao
2 oz brandy (optional)
2- 750 ml bottles red wine
juice of 1 orange
juice of 1 lemon or lime
6 thinly sliced orange and lemon sections for garnish
1 thinly sliced fresh or brandied peach for garnish (optional)
PREPARATION:
Pre-chill all ingredients (preferably overnight).
Mix the red wine, cura莽ao, brandy, fruit juices and sugar syrup well.
Strain into a chilled punch bowl with a cake of ice.
Add the club soda.
Garnish with the orange, lemon and peach slices.
Makes 24 servings.
